‘Treasure’ is a brief story about how treasures find their way into our life and how the objects we surround ourselves with can become so meaningful—reminding us of times, places, and people that are dear to us.
This is an exploration in finding a storyline between existing photographs, and how to transition between them. Two photographs taken on one day in 2019, and the third in my house in the midst of COVID, trying to find ways to create at home.
The photos taken in 2019 were on House Island, Maine where some friends and I found some serious finds on the beach. Some animal bones, some pieces of a Lobster trap, and lots of sea glass. I found an antique fishing weight of some kind (which later oxidized and broke apart). Some of these made the journey home, and found a place on my fiancé and I’s table… joining many of the other bits and bobs that we’ve collected and treasured during our time together. The third photo is a collection of those treasures. ‘Treasure’ links those three photos together to create a story from discovery to appreciation.
This was an exciting project because it incorporated so many different techniques and processes, utilizing a workflow between After Effects, Cavalry, and Cinema 4D.
